A Fiji fishing vessel has rescued four Tongans who had been adrift at sea in a disabled boat for 20 days.

The New Zealand owned ,Solander 4, picked up the four fishermen, aged between 26 and 52, about 200 nautical miles south of Suva early on Saturday morning and brought them to Suva yesterday.

They survived on fish and rainwater and were weak, but otherwise in good heath.

Their 9-metre punt suffered engine failure soon after leaving Tofua Island in Vava'u Group.
