Six defendants arrested during drug raids by police in Samoa have been denied bail by

the Supreme Court.

Justice Lesatele Rapi Vaai said that the charges of possession of marijuana and other narcotics that the defendents face, did not entitle them to bail.

The defendants are Semisi Lafi, Patrick Chui, Joseph Faurknar, Tofele Tavui, Duncan Ah Hi, and Francis Matthis.

They will remain in custody until the next hearing on 27 February.

The police and Transnational Crime Unit has been investigating the importation of illegal drugs since 2003.
