Tropical depression developing very slowly east of Vanuatu

10:18 am on 23 February 2006

Rainshowers with isolated heavy falls are continuing to affect parts of central and southern Vanuatu.

Forecasters at the Vanuatu met service are monitoring a tropical depression to the east of the country which is developing slowly, although its potential to form into a tropical cyclone is low.

Flooding is possible over low lying areas and seas are rough over the central and southern waters with moderate to heavy southeasterly swells.
