A man arrested last month in Samoa in connection with an alleged drug ring, has been charged for allegedly threatening to harm the Commissioner of Police.

Ricky Chan Chui of Ululoloa, has been charged with a threat to do bodily harm and using threatening words.

The threats against the commissioner, Papalii Lorenese Neru were first mentioned in a bail hearing for Chan Chui earlier this week.

The charge of using threatening words stems from a comment by the defendant that all income from his businesses would be spent burning down the commissioner's house.

For the drug raid, Mr Chan Chui is charged with the possession of a glass pipe for the consumption of narcotics; possession of five small plastic packets of dried marijuana leaves and three marijuana joints.

The defendant has been remanded on bail until next Tuesday local time.
