The New Zealand foreign minister, Winston Peters, will make a three-nation Pacific tour next week.

Mr Peters will visit Tonga, Samoa and Niue over a six-day period.

He is scheduled to meet the three countries' leaders and visit NZAid projects.

Mr Peters, who has held the portfolio since last year's election, wants to visit half of the 16 Pacific Islands countries before the middle of this year.

He is due to visit Solomon Islands after the elections due in a month.
