New Caledonia's SLN nickel company replaces general manager

The general manager of New Caledonia's nickel mining company, SLN, has been replaced.

Luc Auffret made the announcement at the company's annual general meeting in Paris, citing personal reasons for his departure.

Mr Auffret held the position for less than a year.

SLN has replaced him with by Frenchman Pierre Alla, who, until two years ago, was the general manager of the Goro-Nickel mining project in New Caledonia's south.

SLN suffered about 50 million Us dollars in losses in a protracted strike last year.
