The Vanuatu opposition has offered the prime minister's job to Sela Molisa if he abandons the government.

The Vanuatu Daily Post reports that the move comes amid opposition attempts to topple the administration led by Ham Lini over a dispute about the government's kava exporting policies.

The opposition plans to table a motion of no confidence but is uncertain if it has enough support to pass it.

Mr Molisa has said he is confident that he will be able to bring over enough from the Vanuaaku Party following a reported party caucus decision allowing him to negotiate with the opposition.
