Samoa election candidate said to have pulled out after intimidation

The Samoa Democratic United Party claims that the candidate who was to run under the SDUP banner in the constituency of Lepa decided not to because he was scared.

Lepa is the only constituency which will not have an election on March 31st because the Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele is running unopposed.

The SDUP had announced a week before the filing of nominating petitions closed that their candidate would return from New Zealand in time to register, but according to SDUP deputy leader Asiata Saleimoa the candidate was intimidated and pulled out.
