The University of Papua New Guinea's vice chancellor Professor Les Eastcott and two top university officials have resigned.
Chancellor Andrew Yauieb announced Professor Eastcott's resignation which came into effect last Friday.
The Registrar Vincent Malaibe and Bursar Edward Croake have also stepped down.
The newspaper, The National, reports the senior administrators will now be paid out less than the proposed 1.5 million US dollar compensation package that had been earlier proposed.
The Dean of Natural and Physical Science Professor Ross Hynes has been appointed acting vice-chancellor.
