The Papua New Guinea national broadcaster is making a submission to the government for a new TV station.

The Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare has suggested that the TV station would be called NBC TV as it is likely to be owned and operated by the state-owned National Broadcasting Corporation.

He has asked for the draft submission to finalised this week, and be presented to the Office of Information and Communication and the National Executive Council.

The Post Courier newspaper reports over 17 million US dollars has been allocated for the project.
