Fiji National Alliance pushes orange as party colour

1:34 pm on 26 April 2006

The Fiji National Alliance says people wanting political change should wear the party's colour, orange.

Party members, headed by leader Ratu Epeli Ganilau, walked through the streets of Suva dressed in orange in what they dubbed the " walk for political change."

The party leader says Suva city is his constituency and he wanted to meet its residents and business community, and give out information about the party and its candidates.

"This is the party colour. And we also said to people if you want a change in government, wear orange and people are going out saying this is going to be the orange revolution."

Ratu Epeli Ganilau says the party chose the color because of its brightness, which suggests difference and change.

It is said to be a first in Fiji's political history for a party leader to walk through the streets meeting potential voters.
