Solomons opposition MP lauds RAMSI

3:24 pm on 9 May 2006

A Solomon Islands opposition MP says there is a wrong perception that members of the Regional Assistance Mission have taken key positions from Solomon Islanders.

Milner Tozaka, who was the Solomons high commissioner in Canberra, says RAMSI staff have only taken up posts in departments that were weakened by the social unrest.

Mr Tozaka has told parliament that the countries making up the mission have been spending millions of dollars to help Solomon Islands and are in the country to protect people and property from criminals.
