A Samoan holding a chiefly matai title of Su'a has been appointed Director of the Forum Fisheries agency in Solomon Islands.

The other candidates were from the Marshall Islands, Papua New Guiena, Australia and Vanuatu.

Su'a Tanielu had managed the fisheries division in the Ministry of Agriculture in Samoa before he moved to Honiara to work for the FFA as a fisheries management adviser.

Su'a succeeds Feleti Teo of Tuvalu, whose six year tenure ends this year.
