The Pacific Arts Committee of Creative New Zealand is seeking nominations for the Arts Pasifika Awards 2006.

The winners of the Awards, which celebrate Pacific Artists, across a range of artforms and career stages will be announced in November.

The Committee chair, Marilyn Kohlhase, says Pacific arts make a valuable contribution to New Zealand's international reputation, and the richness and diversity of the arts in this country.

There are six categories up for grabs with the Senior Pacific Artists awards the top prize worth seven thousand New Zealand dollars, which was won by Auckland musician Opetaia Foa'i, who's part Tokelauan, Tuvaluan and Samoan, last year.

There are also two prizes worth five thousand dollars and three worth three thousand dollars.
