Samoa asked to help recruit cannery staff for American Samoa

Samoa's Minister of Inland Revenue and Customs Tuu'u Anasii has been approached by American Samoa's largest private employer Star Kist Samoa to help recruit workers from Samoa.

The cannery is short 200 fish cleaners.

Tuu'u has told the Samoa Broadcasting Corporation that he has held meetings with Star Kist General Manager, Bret Butler, and the cannery is seeking the assistance of the Samoa Government to recruit the additional manpower.

He has been told by cannery officials that as long as a person has secured a job at Star Kist Samoa they would be allowed entry into American Samoa and immediately cleared to work,

However. they must have an American Samoan sponsor, pay airfares and an immigration bond.
