Gold Ridge mine in Solomons could reopen late next year

The Gold Ridge mine in Central Guadalcanal in Solomon Islands could re-open toward the end of 2007.

The Managing Director of Australia Solomon Gold, Mike Christies, who has been holding talks with land owners for nearly a year, told thje Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation that the company is expecting to move ahead quickly after the signing of three final agreements last week.

He says if all goes according to plan, approval will be secured towards the end of this year, refurbishment and construction will begin early next year heading towards full production by the the end of next year.

Mr Christie says that after a feasibility study is done, the company will start raising funds for the project.
