Fiji PM says Labour had input in President's address

5:57 pm on 6 June 2006

Fiji's prime minister says President Ratu Josefa Iloilo's address to a joint sitting of both houses of parliament outlining government polices was prepared by the multi-party cabinet with input from Labour Party ministers.

Radio Fiji quotes Laisenia Qarase as saying all ministries will be asked to prepare plans soon to implement those policies.

He says the Labour Party ministers' input into the President's address shows they are in agreement and this is already a big step forward.

Mr Qarase says therefore he does not see any problems in the detailed planning for the implementation of those policies.

Mr Qarase says the multi-party cabinet has started off well and he is looking forward to it working in the future.
