The general manager of Nu'uuli Place Cinemas Robert Vernon was assaulted last night by a man purported to be part of a group opposing the screening of the film the Da Vinci code there.
The suspect was angry that Mr Vernon is not backing down from bringing the movie to American Samoa.
The man went up to Mr Vernon inside the theatre and challenged him to a fight.
A heated exchange took place between the two about the movie and as the manager was walking to his car, the suspect grabbed him by the neck.
Mr Vernon has filed a complaint with police.
