Churches and members of the community in American Samoa have scheduled a public march next Wednesday to, as one of the organizers put it, stand up for Christianity.
The public demonstration is aimed at the screening of the controversial movie the da Vinci code which is set to premiere in the territory on June 30th.
The march was decided on at a meeting of church pastors who initiated the petition to the governor to ban the movie.
The governor last week informed the group that the US and American Samoa Constitutions prohibit censorship and the movie is protected speech.
The Senate President Lolo Letalu Moliga has told a local radio station that he will participate in next Wednesday's march.
Lolo made a public stand in support of the church group's petition to stop the movie because he said it is an affront to Christian beliefs.
