Trade ministers of the Pacific Islands Forum meeting have met in Fiji to consider initiatives for strengthening the position of the Forum Island Countries in the WTO.
The meeting also looked at the workings of SPARTECA, the established trade arrangement.
The ministers agreed that the way forward includes a workshop on rules and a report to ministers next year.
The Forum says the ministers also endorsed the Terms of Reference for a joint social and economic impact study between Australia, New Zealand and the Forum island countries.
