A French Polynesian assembly member says she may take the assembly president, Philippe Schyle, to court for banning an exhibition to mark the 40th anniversary of the first French nuclear weapons test in the South Pacific.
Tea Hirshon says the committee organising a conference on the tests asked for the exhibition area of the assembly to be made available for pictures from an official report into the tests.
She says she is disappointed with the assembly president and Fetia Api Party head who earlier this year voted to approve the report.
"I have written a letter to the president, asking him for permission to hang them on the walls of the hall. Although he first has said yes, even giving me the dates, he then turned around and said no."
On July the 2nd 1966 France carried out the first of its 46 atmospheric atomic tests in the South Pacific.
