The Solomon Telekom Company has welcomed the governments decision to review the telecommunications industry and its monopoly role.

The previous government issued a 15-year exclusive license to the company admist public criticism but this administraiton says it will look at the exclusivity and legality of that licence.

Telekom's Chairman John Beverly says it has no problem with the government's intention, as long as the level playing field is set for all those looking at venturing into the telecommunication business.

Mr Beverly pointed out that Solomon Telekom paid over 4 million US dollars to the government in the form of taxes last year.
