Students at Papua New Guinea's University of Goroka went on a rampage at their campus this week after staff at the university walked off their jobs demanding the removal of the Vice-Chancellor, Dr David Rawlence.
The National newspaper reports the students locked the main gate to the campus, set fire to a round house and overturned rubbish drums spilling rubbish onto the streets.
They say striking staff are depriving them of their right to an education.
They also say they have paid high fees for accommodation, transport and food and their family members have sacrificed a lot to send them to university.
They want the issue resolved quickly and classes to resume immediately.
