American Samoa Fono invites Governor to address new session

American Samoa's Legislature has invited Governor Togiola Tulafono to address lawmakers when the 4th regular session of the 29th legislature convenes next week.

Although not required by law, it is not unusual for the Fono to ask the governor to address lawmakers at the opening of a session.

The governor is required by law to address the Fono in January every year.

The Senate President, Lolo M. Moliga, says it's hoped that if the invitation is accepted, the Governor will address issues on the government's current and future financial status, air service, education, utilities, and health.

Lolo says the most pressing issue in the next legislative session is the budget for fiscal year 2007.
