Lawmakers in American Samoa convene today for the fourth and final session of the Twenty Ninth Legislature with the fiscal year 2007 budget their top priority.

The new fiscal year begins on October 1st, this year.

Senate President, Lolo M. Moliga, says Governor Togiola Tulafono has accepted a Fono invitation to address a joint session of the Fono.

The governor will be speaking on the budget, the government's financial situation and the Administration's proposal for a $20 million bond issue to fund what Togiola says are critical infrastructure needs in the territory.

The governor will also speak about American Samoa's current efforts to be connected to the Southern Cross-owned undersea fiber optic cable, that runs from the west coast of the United States, through Hawai'i and Fiji to Australia.
