Police in the Papua New Guinea province of Bougainville have imposed a blanket ban on Fiji citizens from entering the area.
This is in response to the failure by the local authorities to remove five former Fiji soldiers who have been providing security to a wanted scam operator, Noah Musingku.
Police told the Post Courier newspaper that every aircraft and vessel travelling to the region will be screened to refuse entry to any Fiji national.
They say any Fiji passport holder wanting to travel to Bougainville must be authorised by the autonomous Bougainville government, the administration or police.
This comes as police were told by sources that another 300 Fijians were on their way to the region.
