One of the five Fiji Labour Party dissidents facing disciplinary action says the party leader, Mahendra Chaudhry, is refusing to call a management board meeting because he knows he will be defeated.

Agni Deo Singh has told the Fiji Sun newspaper that the dissident five have majority support in the management board which is why Mr Chaudhry is refusing to face them.

The five are party vice president Krishna Datt and deputy leader Poseci Bune, both of whom are also cabinet ministers, MP's Felix Anthony and Agni Deo Singh and former senator Dr Atu Emberson-Bain.

Mr Singh says Mr Chaudhry and party president Jokapeci Koroi is refusing to call the management board meeting because all the dissidents have questioned his autocratic decision making.

Mr Singh says they are not seeking Mr Chaudhry's removal as party leader but are only questioning his decisions.
