A village council in Samoa has banished the holder of a chiefly matai title and leader of the Samoa Party, Su'a Rimoni Ah Chong.
A reliable source and matai of Lano village in Savaii island, says the village council decided to penalize Su'a when he refused to withdraw his election petition.
The Samoa Party leader is accusing the Minister of Telecommunications and Broadcasting, Mulitalo Siafausa Vui, of committing bribery and treating before and during the election.
Su'a last night said the council decision has only banned him from taking part in village fono and other traditional activities.
But he says it would not affect his free movement to and from his village.
Su'a was reluctant to comment on the decision against him but said his village of Lano will later lift their ban and welcome him back.
