Preliminary hearing into charges against Solomons MP continues on Monday

10:01 am on 21 July 2006

The preliminary hearing into the criminal case of East Honiara Member of Parliament Charles Dausabea will resume on Monday morning in the Magistrates Court.

The hearing will see Dausabea's lawyers cross examine the prosecution's seven witnesses.

The witness list includes former Finance Minister Peter Boyers.

The aim of the preliminary hearing is for the court to decide if the evidence against Dausabea is strong enough to warrant a High Court hearing.

Dausabea is facing charges of inciting riot, intimidation and threat.

So far two Crown witnesses have appeared before the court.

All the charges are related to the April 18th riots in Honiara.
