RAMSI to help with Solomons riot probe

2:28 pm on 24 July 2006

The Regional Assistance Mission to Solomons Islands says it will co-operate with the government's investigation into the April riots in Honiara.

Ramsi's special co-ordinator, James Batley, made the comments on the eve of today's third anniversary of the arrival of the intervention force.

Mr Batley says Ramsi will also offer assistance to the inquiry.

The Facilitation Act allowing Ramsi's operation in Solomon Islands has now expired, but the Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, says he has signed another document to facilitate an extension to the agreement.
