Five prison inmates have escaped from Suva Prison in Fiji in the past three days to take the numbers of prisoners on the run in the country to 11.

Several of the latest escapers are known to have cut their way through bars on their cell windows before scaling the prison wall.

Police have called on the public to come forward if they have any information on the escapers and warned that harbouring an inmate is a serious offence.
