Three new proposals for American Samoa's Rainmaker Hotel site

9:56 am on 3 August 2006

The Board of the American Samoa Development Corporation met yesterday to review three proposals for the 5 acres remaining on the Rainmaker Hotel site and hotel facilities.

Acting board president, Utu Abe Malae, says the board is not at liberty to discuss details of the proposals until the interested parties return with more refined proposals including business plans.

The proposals include back packers, and youth hostel type operations, boutiques, restaurants, marine science educational programmes, a dive shop, hotel room condominium, and a venue for cultural programmes.

The three proposals were submitted by locals, one with off-island backing.
