Nine provincial councilors in Vanuatu have been told to vacate their seats.
The Daily Post reports the Sanma councilors they had the duty and obligation by law to attend council meetings whenever called and convened.
But the newspaper says the nine councilors had been absent a number of times from consecutive meetings.
Disputes over the council's sessions have gone to court.
