More than 200 former Fiji soldiers are reported to be queuing up for private security jobs in war torn Lebanon where fighting is escalating.
The Fiji Times says reliable sources have confirmed that a private security company is awaiting details of a contract to secure the deployment.
But the Fiji government is urging caution for any of its citizens considering taking up such risky assignments.
The minister for home affairs, Josefa Vosanibola, says the situation in Lebanon is volatile with many people, including United Nations personnel, being evacuated because of the danger to their lives.
Mr Vosanibola says life is worth more than money and people should put their loved ones at home first.
His comments come as Mr Vosanibola prepares to lead a team including the military commander, Commodore Bainimarama on a visit to Fiji soldiers and police officers on duty in the Sinai, Iraq, Kosovo, Sudan and Liberia.
