Tonga by-election in two weeks to choose Tu'ipelehake successor

Tonga is to hold a by-election among Tongatapu nobles on August the 23rd to choose a successor for the late Prince Tu'ipelehake.

It will be the sixth parliamentary by-election of this session.

The Election Supervisor, Pita Vuki, has told Matangi Tonga that the by-election will be held at the Palace Office in Nuku'alofa in the morning of the 23rd and the result will be announced in that afternoon.

Tonga has 33 noble titles and there are nine seats reserved in parliament for them.

Prince Tu'ipelehake died a month ago in a motor accident in the US.
