Tonga's Squash Council says exports could reach 12,600 tonnes this year.
The Council's Stephen Edwards told Matangi Tonga that 10,000 tonnes will be for the Japanese market and 2,600 tonnes will be for Korea.
The Tonga Development Bank says that two thirds of the1 million US dollars from the bank's fund for squash growers has already been paid out.
The squash season begins in October.
