Record number of Pacific players recruited by French clubs

The French Rugby Union has recruited 112 Pacific players for their season which begins this month.

Forty two players from Fiji, Tonga and Samoa are set to play in the top two divisions, while as many as seventy, including former All Black captain Tana Umaga, will play in the lower divisions.

Pacfic rugby players are now perceived as almost essential assets in any major French team, and are relatively more affordable.

The salaries range nearly six thousand to just over 23-thousand US dollars, with insurance and other costs taken care of by the clubs.
