The number of suspected cases of whooping cough recorded in Guam has reached 53.

The Pacific Daily News reports that two new cases were recorded by the Department of Public Health and Social Services this week.

The agency has been hosting free immunization clinics to entice parents to bring their children in to get their injections.

With more reported cases of the disease and the start of the new school year imminent, dozens of residents have taken advantage of a clinic to get caught up on their shots.
