A defendant who went missing from American Samoa's High Court earlier this week was back in court yesterday.
The man, who is facing rape charges disappeared from the Court House on
Monday, shortly after the police van carrying detainees from the Tafuna Correctional Facility arrived at the court house.
Police searching for him found him at his family home at Fagatogo.
The defendant told officers that he went to visit his mother who was
in hospital.
His earlier disappearance led the Chief Justice to order that from now on all detainees taken to the High Court must be handcuffed.
