The Northern Marianas Governor Benigno R. Fitial has signed a renewable energy bill into law.
The Saipan Tribune reports the new law gives incentives for energy efficiency using solar power, wind energy, ocean current power and bio-diesel fuel from used vegetable oil.
Attorney General Matthew Gregory said the new law will promote the Commonwealth's economic well being and propel the nation towards a future of independence from costly imported oil.
