Members of the United States Congress have been visiting the two tuna canneries in American Samoa.

Reports say the congress members are considering whether to support the renewal of a tax credit that will help keep the tuna companies operating in the territory.

The delegation have visited the two largest private employers, StarKist Samoa and Chicken of the Sea Samoa Packing.

American Samoa's Governor, Togiola Tulafono says he wants the congressmen to understand how beneficial the tax incentive will be to the local economy.
