American Samoa firefighters helping counterparts in Hawaii and California

Seventeen forest fire fighters from American Samoa leave tonight to help their Hawaii and mainland counteparts fight fires which have destroyed national parks and property in California and Hilo.

Two will be stationed in Hilo, Hawaii and 15 are destined for Sacramento, California.

The group includes one firemen from Manu'a., and one college student.

Local firefighters have been helping stamp out fires on the mainland since 2000.
