American Samoa Senate president wants military camp set up at home

The American Samoa Senate president, Lolo Letalu Moliga, is angry that Samoa is being considered for a military training site and his territory of Manu'a is being bypassed.

During the annual inter-Samoa talks two weeks ago, the governor Togiola Tulafono asked prime minister Tuilaepa Sailele for land on Savaii island to set up a military training camp.

But Lolo says it is embarrassing that a US territory is bypassed as a possible site for this lucrative economic development venture.

The Senate President said that he is strongly recommending the territorial government to seek ways to increase the military presence in American Samoa.
