The Fiji Labour Party leader, Mahendra Chaudhry, has issued directives to his party's cabinet ministers to perform in their ministerial portfolios.
Fiji TV reports that Mr Chaudhry has told the ministers to be sharp and address issues of concern to the party.
Mr Chaudhry has already told the minister for local government, Chetanya Lakshman, to get the Suva City Council to clean up the capital, adding that the city has never been so dirty.
He has met several other ministers and plans to meet the rest.
Mr Chaudhry says he wants Labour Party ministers to deliver to the people and if they can't, they should let the people know why.
He says the FLP ministers are being paid to focus on their portfolios, so they should start acting on issues now before the damage becomes irreparable.
If they can't, says Mr Chaudhry, they should not be in the cabinet.
The prime minister, Laisenia Qarase, says meetings between Mr Chaudhry and Labour Party ministers are of no concern to him and he will continue to run his cabinet according to the normal rules.
