PNG minister denies accuracy of police report

A Papua New Guinea minister and police are at loggerheads over claims he lost a firearm and substantial cash.

Police reports indicated that Forest Minister Patrick Pruaitch had come out of a Port Moresby night club early on Sunday morning and fallen asleep in the car while thieves stole his automatic Glock pistol and a substantial amount of cash.

But the Post Courier reports that Mr Pruaitch has denied he had reported the theft of his pistol to police and also denied having cash when the alleged theft happened.

He was disappointed that he was not consulted on the police report which he described as baseless.
