Fiji prepares to defend rugby union sevens title

Fiji's rugby sevens coach - Waisale Serevi has named 39 players in his training squad to start preparations for the defence of the IRB World Series title.

Serevi has named former Australian and Fiji rep - Bruce Rauqe who plays club rugby in Sydney.

Seasoned campaigners William Ryder, Mosese Volavola, Neumi Nanuku, Raymond Rodan, Lepani Nabuliwaqa and Epeli Dranivasa are in the squad.

South Africa's Western Province centre, Sireli Naqelevuki, is a leading contender for the captain's job.

Former skipper Semisi Naevo is also in the squad but he's suspended till the second leg of the series in Wellington.

Former bay of Plenty wing, Filimoni Bolavucu, is also in the squad.

Serevi has also named five players who are still under-19 years old and come from the secondary school's competition.
