10:19 am on 12 September 2006

Utu Abe Malae is stepping down as the President of the Development Bank in American Samoa.

According to a press release from the governor's office Utu is considering other job offers because he cannot keep up with his "faaSamoa and church obligations" on the salary he is receiving.

But since the bank is just a small one, he is not comfortable asking for a higher salary.

The Governor Togiola Tulafono said the bank has improved tremendously under Utu's leadership.
