Churches in Kiribati told they must help government battle growing social problems

Religious bodies and churches must join forces with government to battle the increase in youth violence, prostitution and pornography in Kiribati.

Rev. Baranite Kirata told the 20th Protestant Church general assembly, government alone could not win the battle and therefore churches should take pro-active leadership roles to guide the youth.

He adds recent reports of unbecoming youth behaviour truly reflects the declining quality in leadership to teach and guide youths to good values and virtues.

Rev. Baranite is the head of the church and society division of the Kiribati Protestant Church.
