Telecom Vanuatu disappointed over introduction of new company

Telecom Vanuatu Limited has expressed disappointment over a supreme court decision to allow a new telecommunications company called Pacific Data Solutions to set up in the country.

TVL, which controls all telecommunication services in the country, says it is going to appeal the case in which government lawyers convinced the judge that the new company would not operate any telephone service.

TVL says for the court to rule in favour of government statements in the case would be seen as a conflict of interest as the government has one third of shares in TVL.

In a company statement TVL said it has at all times been focused on ensuring that the best possible telecommunication services are available to all people.
