A website designed to strengthen disaster risk reduction and disaster management in the Pacific Region is now under construction.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed in Fiji between various international agencies to develop the Pacific Disaster Net website.
The Fiji based South Pacific Applied Geoscience Commission was one of the groups which signed the MOU.
Its director, Cristelle Pratt says the Pacific Disaster Net will target risk management professionals working in the Pacific region including government agencies, regional bodies, non-government and international agencies.
"I think it provides a very powerful management tool for that very reason that people can actually access central information system for very important data and information on disaster risk management."
